Hey guys, real quick question. I recently bought a 2014 track pack and the rear tires were the original stock tires and getting bald. trying to save money I purchased some cheap tires with good reviews. accelera phi II I believe. I bought 275/40/19 to widen the rear up just a bit from the front being a 255/40/19. the rear end of my car now feels like its on rollers. im worried about giving it any throttle, changing lanes on the interstate at 75+, and just driving in general. tires have approx. 1100 miles on them as of today. if any one else has experienced this or knows why please help me lol!!!

Check your tire pressure, but it sounds like you bought junk tires. There seems to be a lot of bad reviews out there for them.

What tire is on the front? That sensation is very common with mismatched tires (both brand/quality and temp range). Say your fronts are Pirelli Summer tires and the rear are accelera phi II Performance All season. Never mix all season and summer. Not to mention a 4-5th tier tire with a 1 tier tire... going to have a massive differential in "spring rate" since your tire is the first spring in your suspension. Its going to feel funny of course, and the funny will change based on temperature. Your front and rear tires have completely different temp ranges (0-100 for all season, 50-180 +/- for summers) so understeer below 70 degrees and oversteer above 70 degrees...

the front is just an all season tire. falken brand. they were on it when I bought it. I only noticed this problem after I took the stock Pirellis off and put these cheapo depot tires on. should have saved my money and went with the nt555 like I wanted but nooooooo. lets by some cheap junk lol. thanks for the responses though guys.

What air pressure you running? I just went up to 275/40-19 all around continental dws06's and we put them on at 32lbs and it felt like I was riding on marshmallows. Went up to 40 and they are good.

What to say? Don't mismatch tires on a high performance vehicle....and don't go cheap. The tire's structure and design are clearly incompatible with what you've got up front and this sounds like it might get really expensive fast if you don't change them out. Penny-wise and pound foolish, as they say.

at the time I bought the tires I couldn't afford anything better. I had a pair of almost slick Pirellis on the rear end and had to have something. I guess in the future I find a better way. lol thanks for the input guys

Yeah don't worry about it, every single one of us at one point didn't know a lot about tires (and many of us did horribly dangerous setups too). My first car in college was an eighties escort, with a 70 +/- series tire on the front and a 60 +/- series on the back. It was hideous, the front tire was 2 (yes 2) inches taller. Had I gotten in a tight situation, I would have definitely wrecked that thing. It was a horrible idea, the guy at the used tire shop should have been fired for letting it out of his garage.... LOL.... Now I am a tire wholesaler and tester and spend the majority of my waking moments around tires and would never let my worst enemy do such a silly thing. It matched the 2 inch shag carpet I dug out of a dumpster and installed in the car anyways...

yeah, there is not much margin in tires. That is why we at Tire Rack sit in a cornfield in IN. not a lot of margin, you have to do some significant volume to pay for gas home and lunch.

dang I thought you were gonna say tires were marked up 50% lol. I will be buy some nitto nt555's just as soon as I can afford it. hopefully that will sort out this unsteady rearend problem for me.
