Figured I would post a short thread about my motor swap for my '11 and what is needed. In order to do the swap for a '11-'12 car, you have two have 2 things:

1) Wiring Harness. part number M-12508-M50. ($250)
2) 3 bolt water pump from a 15+ gt. ($17)

On to the short story..... So I was out doing some spirited driving when my motor started knocking. Opened up the oil filter and this was the result. Had 86k hard miles on her.

After I found out the motor was toast, figured I'd pick up a new long block and make some improvements. First I picked up a boss mani and gave her a little port job.

Yanked the broken one out... (ended up selling it)

...and in came the new M50A1 block

Figured I would need this for the increased RPM. Mach 500 w/ lightened flywheel.

I've been driving it 100+ miles daily since the end of August and it's been a blast. The improved heads, (slightly) bigger cams, and ported boss manifold make a great combo for a fun ass power band. It's definitely an improvement over the previous setup.

Comment, criticism, and questions are all welcome!

Where did you end up buying the long block from? And, if you don't mind sharing, how much was it?

Glad to see that ford has made a gen 2 coyote that is compatible with the 11-14 cars. While I will be going with a built short block eventually because I am boosted, this is another good option especially if you need a new motor and are staying NA.

Nice...looks like a sweet setup... !!!

I have a 2011 GT and I don't really need an engine right now but I always look around when someone is talking about new coyotes. It sort of looks like there are several different versions of this engine now, what about this one made you choose this model (Gen-1-M-6006-M50A1)? If I ever do have to get another engine, I don't want to buy one, then later be like... "Oh man, I wish I would have got the other one" or something like that....lol.... Or is this the only one that will work in your car..?

The 15+ gen 2 coyote engines are incompatible with the 11-14 cars because the timing system in the new motors can’t be controlled with a gen 1 ecu. Ford eventually came out with this model so it would be compatible with the 11-14 cars, hence the 1 at the end of the part number “M-6006-M50A1”. The regular motor 15+ motor is “M-6006-M50A”

However, the M50A1 is (as far as I've found) $1,500 more then the M50A. For people who already have a motor, it might be to their benefit to swap timing components and the applicable cams.

True. Won't get the extra millimeter of cam lift, though. M50A1 comes with the 15-17 exhaust cam and 12-13 boss intake cam.
