Well me and my bro went to get gas in his car and we got a full tank. On the way back I saw a Black WS6 and so I told my bro to speed up.. and we cought him at a light...Our window was down and so he rolled his window down also......He had a girl in the car.... I asked him if he wanted to run.. and he was like "man you mustang guys are over confident thinking yall can beat us LS1 owners.... :nono: .. I was like lets race for money 100$$ he say sure.... The light went green My brother hit it and we spun a lil and same w. the other guy.. once we got traction we automatically jumped a car on him.. in 3rd we kept slowly creeping away..... :D ... By 110 we had 1.5 on him

We came to a light he was bsing and said he spun way to much lets go from a 35 roll.. my bro was in second at 35 do to his 4.10's and I am guessing the other guy was in 1st... My bro honked 3 times and we hit it we were behind half a car and by 3rd we had 1 car on himand shut down about 95..

We pulled over to talk and he said his mod were:

factory dual dual catback,whisper lid with k&n,nittos,ASP crank pulley,02 ls6 cam and springs,Ls6 intake,SLP CAI,SLP fan switch,Ls1 edit.VR stack.best ET:12.7@110 2.0 60'

My brothers Mods: 4.10's, LT's, Cams, King Cobra clutch, Pro 5.0 Shifter X-pipe Magnapack magnaflow mufflers, Underdrive pullies, 315 Nittos on Cobra R's My brothers best is 12.59 my best in his car is 12.49

I hate when people automatically think when they can beat other cars. Makes me so mad. Especailly when they loosed

Good race. I beat a cammed 00gt though. He had the same mods minus the tires and headers. My car only has headers. I dont know what the LS6 cam is though. Thats a tiny cam if he did a swap. Those cammed LS1s make over 400rwhp and go 11s. His must have just been slow cuz my lt1 with headers goes 12.9s. Did you get the $100? That's awsome if you did.

Did you get the money for the race? Also...a 12.7 at 110 with those mods is PATHETIC, there is an 02 Z28 in town that ran a 12.6 at 110 with just a K&N drop-in on street tires....a cammed LS1 shouldn't have much trouble beating a bolton/cams 2V, especially up top....I don't know how you pulled him in 3rd with probably 100 less rwhp. But, obviously you know how to get the most out of the car....a win is a win and anything can happen on the street. Congrats. :burnout:

LS6 isnt good for an all motor car. its pointless i think. my buddies got an 03 C5, with a comp cam, 6.0L truck heads, long tubes, 3800stall and 3:73s. car runs on 18in nittos and ran 11.17 at 123!

well theres always factory freaks- I've heard of a ws6 that went 12.6's supposedly right off the lot with the stickers still in it.

Then of course theres "stock" and theres chevy "stock" so who ever knows- just keep the bottle armed :D

I have heard of some of the newer 01-02 ws6's SS's getting into the 12's stock. Most are around 13-13.5 though. So, that being said I would watch out racing a modded one for money in a car that runs mid 12's because if it was a cammed ls1 that was done right it would be easy 11's. Good kill though and I hope you collected on that $100 and split it with your bro because you were the "set-up" man.

Shawn MacAnanny - i know you are a fellow fbody owner, but you dont run 12.9 with just headers. You keep quoting Gtech which is nothing like the track. Hit the track for real and get some numbers. When I had 301rwhp/338rwtq (bolt-ons including headers) I ran 13.3 @ 105.8mph on street tires.

My first cam swap was to the 2002 LS6 cam and with supporting bolt ons like Longtubes, ported throttle body, ASP pulley, and tuning the car made 376rwhp @ 361rwtq on stock heads. It's a awesome top end cam but does not make any more power than stock until 4500rpms. At 6200rpms it makes around 40-55rwhp more than the stock LS1 cam. That LS1 you guys raced didn't even have headers so he's leaving alot on the table without them, coupled with the fact he's an auto so it all makes sense. Nice Kill BTW!!!

You're wrong. It happened right here at a local track in Oklahoma (Thunder Valley), by a guy that definitely knows how to drive. Put a factory freak LS1 in the hands of someone that knows what they're doing, and that's what you get. Not to mention his Z28 is a stripper model, no power windows, cloth seats, etc. Not all of them are that fast, but some of them can be and that's the scary thing...

35-45mph is not good for a Auto LS1, And like most said, I wouldnt consider a LS6 in a LS1 a cammed LS1.

I dont know why he would go through the trouble of putting only an LS6 cam in. Hell he could pass emmissions with a 224/234 probably. The LS6 is only somewhere around 212/114 right?

Largest common knowledge emissions friendly cam: 224/224 .563/.563 114
'02+ Z06 cam specs: 204/218 .551/.541 117.5

Most "cammed" ls1's today run a cam within the 220 thru 248 duration range. With lifts ranging anywhere from .525 thru low .6xx's. Most LSA's range within the 110 thru 114 range, though sleeper cams creep up to the 116 range.

A cammed ls1 will average about 380rwhp. Range for cam only (stock heads) setups are from about 360rwhp to 420rwhp. There are exceptions. A4's will dyno lower than M6's, but are quicker than M6's. M6's dyno higher but are faster than A4's. A stall is crucial for a cammed A4.
