I'm picking up a 93 SHO Taurus tomarrow to use as my winter car. I have a serious problem of not being able to leave things alone as well. If anyone could post up some links to some SHO sites where I could research and buy goodies from that would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Razor.

Rumor is SHO Shop is closing their doors.

did you pick up a ATX or MTX?

Some places to get parts..

www.spmotorsports.com
www.performance-plus.com
www.shonutperformance.com
www.fordperformancespecialists.com

There are also many 'small time' people out there providing services too.

SHOtimes is probably the best place for archived history on the cars.

SHOforum is the most active forum for the SHO

Doug Lewis is the best SHO guy probably in America (FPS in Douglasville, GA)

Feel free to ask any question you have :)

BTW what color?

Thanks for the links, I will check them out. The car is Green (I hate green by the way) and it's an Automatic "ATX" . The car is by far nothing special condition wise.:lol1: It does have a brand new tranny, brakes and tires though, all this for only $1500. My neighbor nextdoor to me owns it and needs to unload a few of his cars, I need a ride for the winter so I'm picking her up.

Here's the couple questions I have so far. Why do they refer to them as an ATX or MTX and not a manual or automatic? What chip would provide the best gains for the car. Overall what mod combo should I go with and what should I expect performance wise from it? I'm an SHO idiot, being that I know jack about them. :loser:

Thanks,
Razor.

Well, not to scare you, but the 93 ATX (Automatic Transaxle) is the 'weakest' of the three years of the V6 ATXs. Don't worry though. My first SHO was a 93 ATX. MTX = Manual Transaxle. Anyways, as for mods, in all honestly, the best mod is the chip. raises rev limiter, shift points and firmness. Reportedly SHO shop is closing there doors. the next best place is a TEd B LPM (Lifetime Performance Module). Only problem is he doesn't do the 93 ECU. So, you'll have to upgrade to the D4U1 from the 94/95 SHO ATX cars. I think those run (the chip) about $300. He does free reburns though IIRC.

First things first though. Has the 60k been done? (refer to SHOtimes for 60k info). If not, at least get the front 60k done. don't want to get stranded. I could rant on and on, butI'll keep it short. We do ahve a few unground SHO guys running around here!

Thanks for the info man. I'm not sure he has had the 60k done on the car. The car actually has 143k on it. I drove it for the firsttime today and noticed to things, maybe you could give me an idea on this. First the steering on the car seems to pulsate when turning to the right. Off the top of my head I would think the power steering pump is bad, but I haven't bothered to look yet. Second and more importantly when accelerating from a stop I can feel what almost seems like either a broke or wornout transmission mount or something to that effect. It almost feels like a hesitation at first but it's not. The tranny in the car is brand new though. Maybe it's a worn or broke motor mount.

I'm going to look and see what the 60k involves on the website. Through the very short stuff I have looked over in posts, everyone stresses the 60k service. I'm surprised how important it seems to all the SHO owners so I'm curious to see what all it involves.

Thanks again,
Razor.
