I picked up a 97 Cobra, motors on its last leg. What would you recommend for the easiest/best route for 600+rwhp. I thought of a coyote swap at first and I know an 03/04 swap would do it too. Car has 107k miles currently KB 1.7 setup. What kind of numbers would either KB even be capable of with no heat exchanger? Or the KB on say a 03/04 bottom end.

At this point man, I would do a coyote swap.. Or just build the bottom end, throw a vortech T-trim with some 4.10's and let it eat.

I'm hoping to get about 425 to the wheels with my Coyote swap and a tune. I can pick up about 100 with the Cobra Jet intake and cams which I may do next year.

I mean I could build the bottom end, get some cams and put my D1 from my Mach on it.

03-04 swap is so easy once you get the engine all you really need is a heat exchanger and a tune....
But you have soooo many choices out there now, its all a matter of opinion.

~15 psi with a D1 on 10:1 compression put me easily over 600 on 93 and 700 on E85. Youve already got the D1, Id sell the little nonintercooled KB and go that route..granted I have C heads Im not sure how much power thats worth

Forge your stock motor. Head studs and good gaskets. Cheap dirty nasty turbo kit. You'll put down way more power.

My T Trim with 4.10s gets pretty rowdy on the street when you push the loud pedal and that with only 505 at the wheel

Looking like I'll probably contact MMR and do a level 3 shortblock rebuild. Obviously get all arp hardware and studs, anyone know if some port work on "B" heads would be worth it? And input on some cams to work with my D1. Thanks

Listen to this guy! I took his recipe and made it a reality about a year ago. I have surpassed the 600whp mark by a bit. Aluminator 10.1cr /t-trim/treadstone ic/tial 50mm. Now doing a full return system for e85 as I have surpassed anything the stock lines/rails and pumps I was using can handle.

At this point man, I would do a coyote swap.. Or just build the bottom end, throw a vortech T-trim with some 4.10's and let it eat.
