I did a search and nothing came up as far a paying tax on the loaner. Long story short, the car is at the dealer for what is almost surely the TOB. They did give me a rental car (mazda mx6) but they said I was responsible for the taxes on it ??? WTF, if it's supposed to be a 'complimentary loaner' then to me that means it's FREE, as in I don't pay JACK... Anybody else here that had a rental car had to pay taxes on it ?

There is a daily allowance. $25 I think. Anything over that is your responsibility.

You get $28/day I think, anything over that you have to pay. (that is if the dealer uses a rental car company, last time I got a 2004 Crew Cab F-150 with 28 miles on it).

My dealer gives me $30/day and Enterprise does the contract. They usually have cars so you won't have to pay any money out of pocket (unless you buy the insurance). I pay a bit more for upgrades so I can roll in a trailblazer or Expedition. I always take my car in on a Friday so I can have the rental all weekend and take a nice roadtrip up to the mountains :D

That should give you a better idea as to how that Ford dealer will treat your car and you in the future.

My advice is get the hell out of there and go to a Lincoln/Mercury Dealer. They don't seem to be as big an Ass Hole as the Ford Dealers.

Report the dealer to ford SVT to give them a little grief. 1-800-FORDSVT.

Also tell the dealer that if they try to charge you tax you will respond accordingly when you get the customer satisfaction card.

I've taken my car to 2 different dealers for warranty work. The first one gave me the "$28 a day" allowance, and I had to pay taxes and anything over $28 for the rental (Escort or V6 Mustang).

The second one basically just gave me the keys to a rental (Taurus).

Guess which one I will use from now on?

check your auto insurance policy to see if you have rental insurance. this could cover that cost if you do.

Yup, if you're under 25 you have to pay an extra $10 for underage fees which I had to pay, not to mention I drove a no power anything focus for 3 days while they fixed the wrong seat.

Sometimes I am charged the tax; sometimes I am not.

It's not enough money to worry about.

I've got loaners directly from the dealer, part of the "deal", Loaners-for-life. No tax, just a signature; one of the few things that I have been happy with concerning my dealer

They gave me a 2004 f150 club cab 4x4 for $5 per day so no complaints. Had a bad TOB and AC condenser.

i have been given a focus(yuck),a neon(more yuck),a taurus(really not too bad), and the last time an explorer. the first too were from enterprise, and the last two came off the lot. i have not had to pay for any of it. if you are not satisfied talk to the service manager.

Ha ha, what a small world! Could you be talking about ... oh I dunno, Mac Suck? :kaboom:

I went to (probably the same) one dealer three times for the same work. The first two times, I had to pay tax and was only allowed $28/day allowance (yay escort ZX2). The third time, they covered everything sans gas for an Aviator. Damn right!

After that experience, went to a second dealer for multiple warranty items (long story, same thing), but there was no allowance, no paying taxes, and I got something different every time: Taurus, Ranger, F150 Lariat, Explorer.

As mentioned previously, there is only one dealer that gets my future business from now on. Could be the dealer, could be the service manager, but it starts at the dealer.
