Hello, Everyone I had recently run into the "Root Element Missing" error problem when opening SCT's LiveLink GenII to review datalogs. Nothing out of the ordinary was performed, I just simply opened LiveLink as I would every other time. After the to go-to "turn off, turn back on" routine, and uninstalling, then reinstalling the program multiple times to solve this issue, I was left clueless as to what the problem could be, or how it came about. I contacted SCT, and worked with multiple techs who worked hard to find a solution, but was not able to fix this issue. After reading through some of these threads, I made the assumption that this could be a compatibility issue with the version of [URL='http://i.viglink.com/?key=f9e7370b6eb2ec0c582ef89bcf2148c0&insertId=b9d8933bdc272221&type=CD&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A20&libId=johd0vc001002fpv000DAbslb5vka&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lightningrodder.com%2Fforum%2F14-gen-2-lightnings%2F249786-sct-livelink-missing-root-element.html&v=1&iid=b9d8933bdc272221&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%2Fref%3Dnb_sb_noss%3Furl%3Dsearch-alias%253Dautomotive%26field-keywords%3Dwindows&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&title=Sct%20livelink%20Missing%20root%20element%20-%20Lightning%20Forum%20%7C%20LightningRodder.com&txt=%3Cspan%3EWindows%3C%2Fspan%3E']Windows I was running. I decided to do a hard reset of the [URL='http://i.viglink.com/?key=f9e7370b6eb2ec0c582ef89bcf2148c0&insertId=19f903e3fc58c73f&type=CD&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A20&libId=johd0vc001002fpv000DAbslb5vka&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lightningrodder.com%2Fforum%2F14-gen-2-lightnings%2F249786-sct-livelink-missing-root-element.html&v=1&iid=19f903e3fc58c73f&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%2Fref%3Dnb_sb_noss%3Furl%3Dsearch-alias%253Dautomotive%26field-keywords%3Dcomputer&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&title=Sct%20livelink%20Missing%20root%20element%20-%20Lightning%20Forum%20%7C%20LightningRodder.com&txt=%3Cspan%3Ecomputer%3C%2Fspan%3E']computer, and allow windows to be reinstalled. While I didn't change to a different version of Windows, it seems that this has resolved my issue, and LiveLink opens with no errors. The only unfortunate part of this solution was that I had lost all of my apps, and had to reinstall Advantage, LiveLink, Device Updater, etc. Otherwise, everything is now working great with no problems. I hope this helps others as well! TLDR; Perform a hard reset of the laptop, and reinstall windows (*you will lose your applications*)
