receiver hitch style - Licence Bracket

Okay, I finished the licence bracket... it is removable and hard to see with the plate off... after I put it on the car I put some black paint on it to make it harder to see... Pictures follow....

Looks very nice. Have you driven it around with the plate on for a long time on a hot day? Just wondering about airflow problems? Right now I just have the plate on my floor to throw up in the window if i get stopped. Looks very good though...I will have to do it if it works out for you. Keep us posted.

It was about 90 here today and I was runnin around without any cooling issues at all... I don't think we are blocking any kind of significant air... and the coolest part is at the track it can come off!

What you got that thing screwed into??

That's a way trick setup, I really don't want to attached mine till my dealer sticker expires in Sept. I guess I have some time... But it's not far away, your solution is the sweetest so far.

So break it down already, how did ya do it???

2k3biz - Its not screwed to anything...
The receiver plate half is attached to the underside of the bumper with 4 large pop rivits.
The licence plate is of course bolted to the licence plate holder half. The plastic bolts I used are a little too long (and pointed) and the first day the top two made little tiny chips on the bumper, so for now they have foam rubber booties on them,
I think the fix there is going to be to grind them off flush with the nut or find shorter ones.

Bry - I simply used metal that you can get at any lowes or home depot. I used:

1/2" square tube
3/4" square tube
one sheet of 6"x12" sheet stock
one 1/4" cotter pin with a key ring style lock

I had to cut everything with a air powered cut off wheel
I had to bend the cotter pin at 90degrees at the right spot
I had to weld everything togeather.
I had to paint it
I had to pop rivit it on straight
and assemble it

It has been on for about a week (500 miles) and seems solid...

Good Luck...

peace
