what about gear ratio vs trap speed/hp? i want to run the taller 28 tire on my car for 2 reasons. 1. it will hook better IMO. 2. i will be over 750rwtq on spray. with that im hoping to trap around 135+mph. i should be out of 4th gear with that mph on my 26 inch tall tires.

Hmmm, with the factory 3.55, a 26" tire will allow you to trap 142mph at 6500RPM. If you're willing to push it a bit past the limiter, you can do 152mph at 7000RPM.

Here's a great link for automotive calculators Wallace Racing - Automotive Calculators

Look under RPM/MPH from Gear Ratio calculator. Explore the site, its full of awesome tools !!

^i shift at 6100rpms. thats 130 mph for me. also i was a little low on what i want mph wise on the 125 shot. im trapping 127 currently with the numbers in my sig and im at 5900-6000rpms when i go through the traps.

i book marked the calculator page. should come in handy.

posi, what kind of 60ft did you manage to pull out of those 28" tires ? The guy I'm buying the D10 from has cut consistent 1.5X with 26 x 11.5 x 16 ET Streets with diff brace and urethane bushings throughout the suspension. No offense to anyone but if I end up running low 1.6X on the new setup, I'll be pissed...

I've been a few 1.48s on a 28x10.5 et drag and the irs

I've been hitting high 1.5's, low 1.6's with 28" Hoosiers. Been launching at 4,800 - 5,000 RPM, but am going to try some 6,000 attempts with some shock/strut adjustments to try and hit some consistent low 1.5's.

Well I'll say they hooked good but my car was not set up for the track. So all of my 60's have been terrible. That will hopefully soon change.

Thanks for your input guys. I ended up going with the 26 x 11.5 x 16 ET Streets. If the guy I'm buying the wheels from can do 1.52 on a similar setup, I should be able to do it too. Will report back after my next track day.

I kinda went against what most are suggesting but I really feel I'll be way out of the powerband in 4th gear with a 28" tire. If a 26" tire means not being able to leave on the 2step then so be it. I'd be happy with low 1.5X anyways...

6,000-6,100 RPM. The 2" difference in tire diameter from a 28" to a 26" only has about a .20 difference in rear gear ratio.......Have 3.73's on the workbench, but my car has a bunch more in it as it sits with the 3.55's if I can only drive the freakin thing!!

Are you on the stock shafts IronTerp? I am done with the drag radials and babying it and horrible 60' times so I got some 28x10x16 Hoosiers for mine. I am hoping I don't go snap right away. Trying it on the pump setup at 685rwhp first and will pulley it harder as I see.

Your car is hooking nice

Yes, stock shafts. I did the drag radial thing for 3 years and broke two (Luckily I take a spare to the track and just changed em out and drvoe home.....), and got tired of low 1.7 60' times. The run above was a 1.59 with a 4,800 RPM launch at 12 lbs of air. Need to raise that RPM a lower the tire pressure a bit.....

If you got the Hoosier Slicks check the diameter and let me know. I just got the 28 x 10 x 16's too and mine are about 28 3/4"s tall. I had 28 x 11.5 QTP's and they were fine. Now these are rubbing.

I will measure them tonight. They are tall because I had to crank my coilovers up to fit them on. Went and thought I was high enough and she squated a bit too much on the street and rubbed a bit(I saw a little smoke )

wow! car is hooking really good. i need to get some pics like that of my car. looks like i will get a set when my 26" wear out. i already have a patch in one of them and they are new. i don't feel all that comfortable with a patch in a slick but they only have 10 passes on them.

thanks.

One of my cars cut a 1.59 60ft and did 10.47 on a 315/35/17 hoosier drag radial...BTW any whipple car your better off with a 28 tall tire...Also lol launching at 5800 on the msd 2 step is way too much boost you are bound to break for sure....when i had the 2step we left at like 3200-3500 and it was already at 12-17lbs of boost...it will spin the tires and broke a half shaft once lmao
