Late Model Ss Camaros

This past weekend, I ran a late model Camaro SS on the freeway here in Houston.
I drive a 1988 GT Vert [ basically stock ], the Camaro sounded mostly stock except for his exhaust.
We ran 2 times from about a 40-45 mph roll.
I took him both times around 2-3 car lengths.
Does anyone know what type of engine the SS Camaros have ?
Are they quicker than the Z-28 Camaros ?

No way you beat a late SS in a stock 88' Vert. Chances are, it was a SS clone powered by the all mighty 3.8 liter V-6.

With my Stock 2001 SS, I ran low 13's at about 107 - 108mph. They are quick off the showroom floor ..

ponyman, have you ever opened your hood? is there a supercharger on your stang that you don't know about? ever hear a strange whistling noise coming from under the hood?

Maybe a poser or bad shifting.
He actualy made the first move as far as the race goes.
The first time, I figured he missed a gear, but he motioned to run again.
Since we were on the freeway, we didn't stop to talk.

The 98-02 Camaro's, SS',formula's, Trans am, Ws6, ALL come with the ls1. There is a few differences between the years and models, but in the end...they all run the same times (within driver skill) All will dyno within 300hp. Ive seen some put down 290 while others have put 320. Bone stock. Also, just so you know...It doesnt matter if its an SS/WS6 or z28 and TA
93-97 fbodies all came with the lt1.

Always was curious about the SS Camaros.
I had an IROC z-28 back in the eighties.
