ok recently bought a new laptop, but I didn't buy the extended service plan which would cover being dropped, cracked, if you fall down with it or some other thing happens where it gets broken or damaged, because at the time it was too much money and I didn't have enough to cover it.

was wondering if there is a place where I can buy an insurance plan with a $30 - $50 deductible, that's like $7 - $10 a month or something, so if something happens to it I can afford to get it repaired and/or replaced?

I don't even know if something like this exists, but maybe someone here knows something I don't.

Reason I ask is cause my car insurance deductibles are $500 collision and $500 comprehensive, and my homeowners insurance is also $500 (lowest I can get on the HO Policy), and so if something were to happen to it, I'd still have to pay $500 to cover the deductible.

What brand is it? If a Dell, you can add complete care after the fact. It's only about $200 for 3 years and there is no deductible.

I always buy the "complete care" when I buy even if it means lowering something else so have never used laptop insurance companies. Just did a web search for "laptop insurance" and was actually a bit surprised by how many there seem to be. I don't recall it being much of a topic of discussion on SVTP at all.

Lojack for laptops

What you need more than insurance from dropping it is 'lojack for laptops' when/if it gets stolen.

I have never dropped a laptop but this happened recently...

My son had his laptop stolen out of his apartment in Homer, Alaska. We got that thing back and had the thief arrested within 2 days after lojack activated.

The guy even formatted (erased) the hard drive and put a different operating system on it. Didn't matter.

Worth the money. Well worth it !!
