Finally got a chance to take the cobra to the local drag strip,,, but I came away pretty disappointed. Any ideas for improvements or comments welcome.

Details are:
2003 MG Cobra with 6,800 miles.
2.8 Kenne Bell, 19psi
JLT High boost CAI
60LB Injectors with KB BAP
Mac long tubes, 2.5" off road prochamber and 2.5" mac catback
Solid 8.8 rear with 3.73 gears
Stock replica 17" wheels with Hoosier 335 drag radials
CF DFX clutch

Weather was pretty hot, 85 degrees and high humidity. Track prep was better than usual but still slick, I think from the heat.

Here is time slip and video,,, I know I'm pretty rusty but could I really be the problem? This is the first time running the cobra in over a year.:bash:

Time slip:
60ft-1.654
330ft-4.704
1/8 ET-7.195
1/8 MPH-100.575
1/4 ET-11.072
1/4 MPH-128.002

Not a bad run, I just think you need to practice banging gears. Sounded like an aweful long time between the 1-2 shift.

That run was nice man, where's the problem? :lol1:

You have an IRS brace?

Was that the only run you did? I'm sure a little cooldown with a followup run and you woulda got your 10's.

Nice car.

I agree, I dont really see much of a problem. Full weight car there, and 19 lbs on a screw blower usually means low 11s at high 120s....

ET is all about seat time. It's not as easy as people think to get a high
HP stick car to run the number.

The only thing that "concerns" me is the low trap speed. I see you're
running 19psi. Is that with fairly conservative timing on pump gas or
is that a race gas tune (aggressive timing & A/F)? Looks to me like
you're making about 600rwhp. Turn the wick up!

BTW...there is nothing wrong with that pass.

It has a solid rear and a 100 octane tune. I was really expecting 10.50's at 133 or more. I didn't power shift, weather sucked and I'm green,,,, could all this equal .5 and 5mph?

Hard to say.... One thing for sure is, only the best drivers, and usually on slicks and skinnies, run mid 10s or lower. I assume you are around 600-625 RWHP and that's just not usually enough in a full weight car to do what you want to do.

Here
Put a 10.5 slick on it pull some weight here and there and put gear in the car. My Eaton car traps 127 on blower, did the car bog on launch?

Run looked good, but it seems like you rolled out like you were on street tires. Put a 15" slick on the car and dump it at 6k and you will probably be close to the number you want, as you have the mph.

Bolt on a wheel/tire combo for the track. When's the last time your plugs were changed and or looked at?

My car seems to loose 2-3 mph when I bog it.

+1

I once trapped as low as 105mph when I badly bogged on launch with 428rwhp.

I personally think the 11.0@128 run is pretty decent and I'd be happy with that.

Yeah I think the first half of the run is my problem. Car picked up almost 28mph in the second half,,,, this seems good to me. I should be happy I guess, but I was so sure it would go at least 10.80s first time out. Oh well.
