The KB "Gimme 5" intake comes with a nice contoured heat shield that goes under the filter and runs along the side of the motor, but there is nothing forward of the filter that fits around the intake tube and/or seals to the hood. Has anyone bastardized something to make the shielding more robust? I'm wondering if this JLT heat shield would be adaptable with the big oval KB filter. It is sold separately and is not that expensive. The hole is big enough for the KB pipe to fit through, I just don't know if the big oval KB filter would fit inside without being restricted. Any thoughts/other adaptations?
