Any pics of k-members that are modded to remove the oil pan? Need pics and possibly a kit...

He has a 93', so yes, to remove the oil pan. Look at his sig.

Ah yes, the good old days. The double hump was a b!tch. You can remove the fan shroud and fan, motor mount nuts, and jack it way up and do the gasket. I never tried to replace the pan with the engine in, but I know people have managed to do it when swaping for larger pans. Check out some of the other boards, or the 5.0 section.

Good luck!

Steve

EDIT: grabbed this form another site:

1. unbolt motor mounts and tranny mounts. dont remove the crossmember.

2. position wireharness and vacuum lines away from the firewall (you dont wanna
mess that crap up when you jack the engine up).

3. jack the engine/tranny up as far as you can. let it make contact with the
driveshaft tunnel/firewall, but do not jack the whole car up When the car
starts to lift, or you hear the motor/tranny make contact, then stop. Trust
me, you'll want as much clearance as possible.

4. unbolt the oil pan, and let it drop down. Now is a good time to unhook the
oil level sending unit..

5. unbolt oil pump/pickup tube. let it lay inside of the oil pan. Now is a
good time to upgrade to a steel oil pump drive shaft (cheap insurance).

6. remove oil pump/pan from car. This is the hard part.

7. GET THE 1 PEICE RUBBER GASKET!!!! The 4 peice cork gaskets are pure
crap. This is also a good time to get a oil pump gasket, if you ruined your
old one.

8. CLEAN your oil pan well (duh).

9. let any sealant you've used setup nicely before attempting to reinstall the
pan/pump, and re-install.

installation is reverse of removal.

Thanks guys. I probably shouldn't sign my posts--just like some folks quote previous pics from posts over and over again. Consider my hand spanked. Back on topic though: (I also should have noted that I have an aftermarket part) there is a way to modify my UPR mild steel k-member so that i can unbolt a section of my k-members' lower cross bar to easily remove my pan. Cut bar, weld in pieces, bolt bar back up. I figured someone sold the parts or had templates with specs so that I could have them made.

---oops, had to delete my sig, lol
