just bought an '03 and there's a "clunk" when shiftin

the car had a tri ax on it, and every time you would go to put it in gear there would be a big clunk sound. it turns out that the 4 bolts holding the shifter in place were loose and the thread is all messed up.

my mechanic said he will open deeper thread in the tranny and install 4 bolts that will be 1/2" longer than stock, and lock it with locktite. do you think that this will hold?:??:

I had a tri ax and it did the exact same thing! :shrug: I switched to a mgw, and its WAY better.

i just ordered a mgw and bobs gaskets. all the reviews from people goin from tri ax to it made me do it. i hope it's good. now i just have to let my mechanic know not to put loctite on the tri ax monday. hopefully theres nothing wrong w/ the tranny either...
