Just to make sure its on the top of your mind for those that are looking for a Terminator or something else everyone considers a "gas guzzler". If gas prices hit $4 and stay for any extended period of time, it would be the time to buy your car.

I am counting on this :D .. Starting to shop used low mile 2011/12 GT 500s and C6Zs, already found some pretty decent deals out there. The hard part is picking one over the other. I have driven a friends C6Z, but have yet to drive a 2011+ GT500.

c6z's actually dont do that bad on gas. I remember driving my 03 Z06 around and averaging like 20mpg in the city and about 31-32(if i stretched it) on the highway.

I dont think anyone shopping a vehicle like a Terminator, GT500, C5Z/C6Z are going to be swayed with $5-6 gas, as they are likely going to be weekend cruisers anyways.

They do well on MPG..my 03 is gets around 19 city and 28-29 hwy. I can only imagine the C6Z doing the same if not better. Still, folks tend to dump these things. I found an 07 yellow C6Z with 28K miles for 38K. I am considering it, just having a hard time with yellow.

I think there are times when someone might just say "You know what, thats it, I am tired of the price of premium gas for an impractical car." Then they sell the Cobra, and buy a Focus. haha

$5 - $6 gas would be just the incentive I need to sell the Cobra and use the cash as part of a downpayment on a nicer house.

^ This

And, if one cannot afford a 30 cents difference btween regular and super, say $3 - $4 more dollars a fill up, they shouldn't be driving a sports car in the first place.

I was just saying that, like the last gas spike to $4, you will see sports cars/trucks/suv's being traded in on gas sippers. That would be the time to buy in on your sports car. At the very minimum, high gas prices might help you negotiate a lower price.

I agree with that. Keep in mind also that high fuel prices might drive the sale price down on a car like a cobra however while good for the buyer - not so much for the seller. :)

I have seen the prices go up before and the Cobra is still here, it will take more than that to sell it.

I'm getting 24-27mpg in my CTS-V. I might have to switch to the 87 tune if things get bad.

On the flip side I'm glad I have an '12 5.0, it averages 27-29 on the hwy. I drive it to pick up parts, much better than my 10mpg f-350 work truck I own.

Hell, if gas went up to $7 a gallon, I would still fill up that cobra anytime I needed too.

I have other cars as DD and don't worry to much about the price of gas.

Its all relative. No matter what the price of gas goes up to, we will fill up our tanks. We have to drive. Does it suck? Hell yea, but won't change the way I drive.

Not sure why people would sell their Terminators over gas prices though. I mean if gas prices are that big a deal then put the stock pulley back on and put 3.27s in there. Problem solved.

lulz. i'm seeing roughly half of that, but i have an '10. you're not driving it hard enough if you're seeing 24-27mpg.

it will take a lot more than $4/gal gas for me to give a shit about gas guzzling cars. ironically, my p.o.s 2005 explorer seems to get the worst mileage out of all my cars. 12.5mpg.
