1. Skyrim (360)
2. Fallout 3 (360)
3. Fable 3 (360)

I have to say that Bethesda is my favorite developer. They have yet to release a title that I didn't like.

In their prime

1) COD MW2
2) GTA San Andreas
3) Forza
4) donkey kong for the original nentendo
5) street fighter

Obviously there are newer games, so I'm not going to be playing MW2 when I have ghosts, but I still think MW2 has the best story and campaign out of any game I've ever played. Those were the best games in their prime IMHO.

1. Starcraft 2 (HOTS)
2. Rome Total War (only played the first one)
3. Battlefield 3
4. Oblivion
5. Ogre Battle (Nintendo 64)

All games except for the last are for the PC. I might have played other 64 games (goldeneye) more than these combined, but that was because I was a kid with nothing else to do.

A few of you are either young or have not played games for long.

1. Maniac Mansion (C64) - I recommend looking up this one, many emulators available
2. CoD ...2? (360) - One of the WWII ones
3. GTA V (PS3) -fav now but this is an all time list and i haven't played as much
4. Mario64 (N64) (First time i ever saw a real *good* 3d game where you can walk almost anywhere)
5. WoW (PC) - Played for a few years

I've played other games but these are ones that (to me) were ground breaking. WoW was the first mmorpg i have ever played..wasn't really even into rpgs. Came in around 2007 and played for a few years tops.

Maniac Mansion, goes back far but man that game brings back memories. Multiple ways to play, different characters, lots of easter eggs, different endings depending on who you pick to play with. Character switching...awesome game.

The CoD and GTA series have to be there, i anticipate them so much. I find they're beaten quickly and within 2 months i'm just playing around with cheats now and then for fun.

Mario64, almost wanted to put this at the top. I worked at Blockbuster video when that came out and we just got in this demo setup. I never remember seeing a 3d world type game until then, it was amazing. I would walk the aisles just staring at it and playing ever second i got a chance.

I've been an avid gamer for pretty much my entire life. I have to say the newer games like Skyrim are breathtaking to say the least regarding the graphics and scenery, but what I love in a game are detail design, plot depth, music, and replayability, which newer games tend to lack (due to companies investing in graphics over a couple decent writers and planners), granted I am also jaded from repetitive play of all genres.
That being said, mine are as follows:

1. World of Warcra[ck]ft (#1, because it is infinitely replayable, epic cinematics, absolutely fluid gameplay, and the plot is almost always gripping - if you read it, and thank gawd I am free of this crack now)
2. Morrowind (because levitation, that is all)
3. GTA: SA
4. Final Fantasy VI-X (of these, # VII is always the classic, but these were all very good games.)
5. Halo

Honorable Mentions:
Settlers of Catan (board game)
Quake III
Skyrim (great graphics, but otherwise repetitive plot.)
Mortal Kombat (always a classic, all of them)
Starcraft(s)
Half-Life(s)
Portal(s)
Bioshock (all)
Diablo II. (so many hours of my life that I will never get back)

1) Tie Fighter CDROM (PC)
2) Perfect Dark (N64)
3) Goldeneye (N64)
4) Halo (Xbox)
5) Gran Turismo 2 (PS1)

Id say those were the games that I played the most growing up with the most replay value. Tie Fighter is still the greatest game ive ever played in my book, ill still load it up every now and then (gets harder each time to make work especially on x64 platforms) and its still so awesome. They really shouldve made a new version that keeps the same feel of gameplay but updates the campaign to include both a prequel campaign and a sequel campaign, based on the numerous books out there that tie up what happens after the last TieFighter campaign levels (the tie in mostly with RotJ).

Id throw in Doom/Quake but I still spent most my time on the above first.
