I know you guys are gonna think this is crazy, but I just started a new job and wanted to see how many miles it is from my house to my office building and when using my wife's 2005 Escape the mileage came out to 7.1 miles but when I checked using the Cobra it came out to 8.5 miles. I would hate to think that my odometer is fast or if that is even possible. The car is 20 years old so I guess it's plausible. Is there a calibration that could be done?

Have you changed the rear gearset without changing the speedo gear?

Do you have a GPS? That's a quick way to tell.
You need to determine if you have a non stock rear gear, and if the speedo gear has been changed.
If the trans has been changed, it could also have the wrong driven gear, which will throw a speedo off.

I could have taken off the rear cover and counted teeth faster than that method.
Seriously, One wheel rotation vs number of turns for the driveshaft..
Why don't you just make the drive and do it for him then.
