I had a 98 GT in college. I sold it when I got married and bought a house. I have always missed that car. When I had the 98, I always lusted after the 99+ cars. In recent years, I've noticed that these cars have become quite affordable and life has me in the right position now a days, to buy a fun little toy. As I got to looking, I realized that I could get a 99/01 cobra for a little more than a nice GT of the same age. To get the GT up to the Cobra performance level, I would likely spend more money and at the end of the day, would still just have a GT. With the exception of the 03/04 cobra, none of the SN95 (stock) cars are "fast" by today's standards. For me though, these cars feel much faster than they are and they just seem to be more fun to drive than the newer american sports cars. I would absolutely love to have a terminator but the 01 cobra is about 10k less. For my needs, that 10k would be wasted. As someone said earlier, no matter how fast you are, there is always someone faster.

This 100%!!!

When I test drove my 03 GT years ago not knowing a damn thing about mustangs I instantly fell in love with the "feel" of the car. I noticed through test driving multiple mustangs that they all have a personality of their own. I actually didn't like a 2013 GT that I test drove because of how quiet and refined it felt and honestly think the driving experience has been numbed with newer cars.
