Another update: I've already spent a ton of time on this issue, but feel it's worth it, since 12% to 17% of visitors use Internet Explorer. That said, I really dislike IE 11, it's a slow resource hog. I implore you to try Chrome or Firefox. Here's what I've found, IE 11 is reporting "SEC7111: HTTPS security is compromised" errors on most page loads. I tracked it down to one of our Ad Network Exchanges (our most profitable one), I opened a support ticket. Their tech was helpful and really looked into it. Here's what she said: None of the other browsers I've tested have reported anything similar, only IE 11. Another thing I've noticed is the way the IE 11 handles our display ads. We "daisy chain" our ad calls across several ad networks. IE 11 doesn't seem to handle the extra calls like other browsers and freaks out. And now, to throw a gigantic wrench into this entire exercise, I checked our Google Analytics account, which has site speed reporting. I isolated the data to just the forum and segmented it on browser type. Unfortunately it doesn't allow me to drill down to browser version. Here's how the page load time broken down by browser for the past week looks like: Yeah, so Internet Explorer ranks as the fastest.... :??: That can't be right? so I checked another data source. We use pingdom.com to monitor site up-time and server responsiveness. They have an analytical component that provides data similar to Google Anlaytics, but in real-time. Here's their browser speed breakdown: (note that this is a measure of DOMContentLoaded, which is fired when the document has been completely loaded and parsed, without waiting for stylesheets, images, and subframes to finish loading) Just as I suspected, faster than Chrome, twice as fast as Firefox.
