Since privatization it's obviously been a money thing. What well minded business man would want to own a non-profit company, none obviously. The lack of proper supervision is allowing the creation of a new society inside the prisons themselves that causes more problems than are solved, in addition to the blatant mistreatment. I'm not exactly a sympathetic softie and I do think you get what you deserve, but the system we have going here is getting worse and worse. It costs the government more for a service that isn't really being given and in turn costs even more. serious snowball affect.
