Need more test criteria info instead of letter grades A thru F.

Again, these oil filter comparos aren't new and there are more well documented (raw data) ones than the ones in that link.

Link to the GMT site from the posted link, it gives more info and goes into more detail.

a Fram beating Amsoil, royal purple Mobil 1, and motorcraft.. hah BULLSHIT!!

also the test is 3 years old..

You might want to do a little research before calling BULLSHIT, not saying the Fram Extended Gard filter is better than Amsoil, RP, M1 but it certainly on the same level with the "better" filters and definitely better than a Motorcraft. This isn't the same filter as the crappy orange can. It is a wire backed dual ply synthetic media with metal end caps, it's actually a very good filter.

Be careful with the term "synthetic media" on oil filter marketing. It doesn't always mean 100 % nano-fiber. It can be a blend.

Waiting for UB

Fram Extended Gard is the only Fram filter worthy of conversation or use on any vehicle, IMO. It's a good filter, also carrying a higher price due to its worthiness.

This is where the test link above is flawed. Media volume and thickness is not a direct relation to filtering ability. Nano-Fiber media can trap much smaller particles with less surface area/layers, and is also less restrictive to oil flow. The person performing the test in the link above doesn't understand this.

Giving a nano-fiber media filter a low grade because of surface area/volume/thickness layering is lack of knowledge on the topic. It's not required to outperform less expensive media types.

Good comparison of size differences and smaller micron particle trapping abilities. Cellulose in low volume/layers allow small particles to pass though easily. Not nano-fiber.
