i am interested on buying a mach 1. my question is, how much work needs to be done to the car to get it at or over the 500 hp mark at the wheels?

Forged internals at ~9 CR, and a procharger if you want it to last. A KB with Meth will work too. A P1SC Kit will get you 450-500 Roughly...but again, it depends.

If not?....strap whatever.

Just my two cents.

fix the crap rods and pistons...The block is suposedly good too 700hp or so and the crank is the same as the terminators. Pick the forced induction you like best and go with it.

Bolt-ons, good tune and a 150-shot should do it.

My Mach made over 430 rwhp/473 rwtq on a 100-shot on a 100-degree day...

... that was with 4.30 gears, completely stock heads, cams, rods, pistons, displacement, etc,...
