I've been heavily into the SHO game and crowd for the last 5 years and I'm not at a point in my life to build the car how I'd like and do it right. It's fairly expensive to build but I still love the car, which is why I'm at a difficult cross-road right now.
I've always loved Cobra's, and while I prefer the '99-04 body style more, I have a chance to snag a 4V SN95.
First of all, the car. I'm not 100% on the year but I do know its an SN95 with the 4V motor, not the 5.0. Thow owner says it has coil overs, aluminium K-member, BBK Headers and a lightweight flywheel. It needs tires, brakes, paint on the front bumper and the rear passanger 1/4 needs body work, the rear end is blown and it has 122k. Thats all I can see from looking at it and from what he told me. I have yet to pursue this further. He is asking $4200.
My car, its a '95 SHO 5 speed with a lot of work done. It has Koni's, Intrax, subframe connectors, strut tower bars, poly bushings, new ball joints and everything suspension is new within the last 2 years. The only thing I have not replaced is the front sway bar bushings. It also has a 24mm front sway bar, a rear trailer hitch to tie the rear end up, welded fron strut rod cups, larger fronT brakes, a transmission drain pan and a full SHO Source exhaust from the manifold back with two 40 series flowmasters. as well as an origional SHO Shop carbon fiber CAI can. The motor has 180k on it, (but they're mostly high way miles) and 60k since I've had the drivetrain. I've driven from Nebraska to Connecticut and back about 4 or 5 times in the last 3 years which is where most of the miles are form. The interior is in amazing shape for its age and millage, and it has every option you could get (moonroof, keyless, JBL leather etc.). The paint is in great shape and only needs a buff to look brand new. I haven't had the time to do it this summer, and the car is stored for the winter now. There is some rot under the rockers and just starting in the wheel wells, but it is not structural and easilly repairable. I've babied this motor and trans with 3-4k oil changes with the larger FL-1A Motorcraft filter and regular tune ups every year with motorcraft/autolite/dayco parts. I work for a SHO specific shop so all the work is done correctly.
My question is this: Is it fair to trade straight across or should I offer some money on top? Whats a fair price to offer? Thanks for the help, and I'm glad to be on the site. I have been trolling for the past few days doing some reading.
One thing I want to note I found in one of your threads. It stated that the cobra 4.6 was the first motor Ford had that used a water to oil cooler. The SHO went introduced in '89 had a water to oil cooler on the block in between the block and oil filter.
