Not sure about New York? But, registration and inspection are two different animals. I know in Texas that cannot be accomplished.

I know what you are up to lol...I believe they should be able to enter your registration info, then check the inspection Sticker # issued at your last inspection...and this should match the Sticker # that is on the car

In Nevada, the inspection is a prerequisite needed to renew the registration.

When I worked in Hawaii, we could check both the registration & inspection status.
