I've got plenty of hunting rifles, but no tactical stuff so I'm looking for advice on what to get, and where to get it. Lot's of manufacturer's and I don't have a clue.

I like the Smith & Wesson M&P 15 sport. For the price, it can't be beat IMO.

I've been looking at the Springfield M1A. It's not an AR platform but I plan on getting it for the impeding apocalypse.

Already covered in the pistol category. Desert Eagle .50 for sheer stopping power, and looking at a Kimber presently.

That seems the be the general consensus. I always wanted something larger than the .223/5.56

Understood, my Father really wants an AR-type rifle so I'm looking forward to some of the gun hounds to respond. There are so many options now it's so much to look through.

So what do you plan on doing with this rifle? Killing zombies, commies, or intruders?

The best thing to do is figure out your budget. Then get an lmt.

Yes, an AR platform .223 chambered.

Lots of choices out there, just trying to make an informed decision with the help of some of the resident expertise.

5.56 chambered is recommended. Gives you more options.

If you want an accurate AR forget the carbines.

White Oak Varmit upper
Whatever lower you can find with a decent trigger
Stock of you choice
Scope of you choice

1/2" Groups at 100 yards.

Accurate rifles are more interesting.

Also been thinking about picking up a Sig516, due to it being chambered in 7.62 X 39mm. Never really cared for the AK style rifle, but wanted something that's more reliable, and that can shoot AK rounds.
