In China aren't you pretty much sentenced to death before proven innocent? This guy would have probably suffered much worse as a consequence.

I read this story days ago.

I don't see what the problem was? He stole something that was considered classified information. Who to say he wasn't trying to sell this to the competition. Of course there are going to be consequences. It's not like they killed him, or as far as we know.

he probably killed himself b/c he did in fact steal it and knew they would find out.

that or he's just Chinese

What the guy was more than likely doing was stealing the iphone and then going to start his own company and make copies. Which then he'll make lots of $. This happens all the time there. People will even work in factories for a while learning how to make the real designer things (bags/watches/etc) just to leave and start a company copying it. They are masters at copying but hardly innovate. I just got back from there 2 days ago and Iphone copies were everywhere and they actually worked like real thing but slower.
