Hi,

I've just noticed that my ignition switch makes a squeak/creak noise whenever I turn it.

Anyone with this same problem?

Does it mean that it will break?

I hate taking my car to the dealership.

Thanks,

Mine has a sound like a clutch sliping quick squeal when the power turns on before I get to the firing position, it does not do it all of the time though.

Mine doesn't do it all the time either.

Just turn the switch without pushing the clutch pedal so the car doesn't start. You will hear it more clearly.

It sounds like a rusty spring. Don't know how to describe it.

Is it the key mechanism or the ignition switch? The ignition switch is on the lower part of the column under the dash.

Also, there is a rod connecting the two. Is it rubbing?

It might be worth pulling the covers off the column and taking a peek in there and see if the rod or something is rubbing or needs cleaning.
