Took it to the track today, I couldn't break f'n 14! 14.1, 14.3, etc etc, 99 mph, 99mph :cuss:
I guess I really suck at driving it!! :fm:
My 60ft were in the 2.2 area, I'd heat em' and try and bog it off the line, seemed to be the only way to get it to hook at all! The car is basically stock, save for JLT cai, Borla Stinger Cat back, everything else is worthless mentioning. I have removed the rear seat, spare tire and jack, installed light weight corbeau seats a king cobra clutch, steeda ripper shifter.........It's even had the fix

It was hot out, but man...........I ordered a SCT2 tuner and chip, hopefully that helps me out a little. I think I should at least be in the mid 13's by now! IT's embarrasing as hell watching standard issue subaru's run 13.8's!!! :cuss:

How many miles? Have you ever replaced the 02 sensors in it?

From your trap speeds it looks like you are running out of horsepower. YOu should probably be around 102-105.

That's not to bad, look at my numbers below. I suck at the driving though. On my first run, I didn't even get to go with my friend. I had to wait until he went through cause I kept creeping up to far. Then I LB3A anyway. Then on my second run I had to back up twice, then my third I LB3A again, ugghh. Oh, and I missed third on the 2nd and 3rd runs, I couldn't get the car in third so I just put it in 4th. So I'm going to get a shifter, hopefully that'll fix that. And gears too, 4.10's

Check these out:

R/T: LB3A
60' : 3.277
1/4: 16.197
MPH: 92.21

R/T: .165
60' : 2.789
1/4: 15.707
MPH: 86.51

R/T: LB3A
60' : 3.435
1/4: 16.353
MPH: 86.77

First time at the track? Do you have a friend that has raced that you could ride down the track with?

No, 2nd time with this car, first time my best was 15.020, I just really sucked yesterday. I still don't really know how to work the light at the line. I need to practice more.
I do have a friend with a 99 Cobra, maybe I should ride with him, he was getting 14.8's. That's with a stock Cobra.
Oh, we're running at Bandimere, right outside of Denver, so the elevation is around 5800 feet I believe.

The missing 3rd was really hurting my times too

my best is 13.9 on nitto drag radials, borla stingers, dr gas x pipe, k&n intake.
But this is also in Utah's crappy elevation. Do you let off the gas when you shift?

high elevation like that will DESTROY your 1/4 miles times....you should take a trip to a track this is at low elevation to see how your snake is REALLY runnin :)

I notice that you have the Cast FR500 18 inch rims on your cobra and since they weigh more than stock, that right there can be a big reason why your car cant brake out the 14's

The car has 53k on it, I run Royal Purple and was granny shifting it around 6800. I only get a chance to go to the track like once a year if that, so I don't really get a sense for the "legal" aspects of everything. I understand the basics, but not having more than 6 or 7 runs a year doesn't really let a person develop their skills!!:)

I use to run a 89gt convertible out there once in awhile on wed nights back in 1998!! I was in the low 14's with that car, in that elevation! That car was stock and a freak of nature!!!

possibly 6k+ feet, I think corrected altitude was close to 9k feet.

8urvett - elevation explains it. The air up there is thin. Heat + high altitude = whooped 1/4 times.

14.1 @9000 feet corrected seems like a pretty good time to me.

I ran a 13.2 @ 105 at ~1500ft elevation. Car is stock except fro exhaust and a tune. Put down 300 to the wheels after the tune.

Your launch is very key and good solid shifting. A slow shift could easily cost you 5 tenths. Be it that you only shift twice, 1-2 and 2-3, those two shifts are very important.

Practice different techniques and I'm sure you'll get it down. If you can, put your stock wheels back on for track days too as they are alot lighter.
