I just purchased a 98 contour svt with 116k miles on it. The car runs strong, no leaks whatsoever. It does need rotors, brake pads, tires. The paint on the roof and hood is fading. It's going to be a good daily driver. The Lightning is retiring from DD.
my question is where can I get some rotors? Should I get OEM, or aftermarket slotted/drilled rotors?

The OEM front rotors/calipers on the SVT are actually the 'upgrade' from the regular Contour. Cheapest route for an upgrade without going over board with a big brake kit (and larger wheels to clear them) is OEM style blank rotors, quality pads, fresh fluid and SS braided hoses instead of the OEM rubber hoses. The drilled/slotted rotors are just for show on a street car. On a track car, you'll get off gassing - which isn't a factor on the street.

No problem. I started researching these cars a little bit ago, and just picked up mine last Wed for the same reason (to DD and keep the expensive gas guzzling monster for the track). Haha

Yea that's what I've been doing just reading about these cars. Nice yea they are great on gas. I put $30 and got a full tank I was surprised.
