I agree, but losing them is still a painful event.Sorry for your lost. We just lost our Shepard this past Friday. He was 11. Unfortunately we were not able to get to the vet in time to be able to save him.
At least it seems like it was peaceful and in his sleep. It's much harder to watch your dog deteriorate and have to have them put down.
Had to put down our 17 year old Westie when he started having seizures...I cried like a baby when I got out to the car afterwards...
