Last week my wife and I are going to cocoa beach and I see this ugly yellow dakota starting to creap into my mirror. I think nothing of it until I look again and he is right on my a$$. I try to get over into another lane to try and pass the car in front of me when that car was going even slower (damn it) well needless to say this guy passes me and him and his girlfriend look over and laugh like they REALLY acomplished something. I said well F**K this and grabbed 3rd. I came up on his butt. He tried to grab a gear you could tell, but he only had a six under the hood. I pulled a nascar like sling shot move and him and laughed back at his girlfriend as I blew by. Of coarse he didn't like that at all, but there was no way once I got open road that a v6 dakota was going to hang with a cobra. I guess he was on drugs or something.

Should have pulled next to him while he was accelerating and waved right before you stomped it.

JJ,

It's called an Avatar and can be accessed by going to "user cp" (on the top of your screen), then goto "edit options". The avatar setting will be at the bottom. You can use any of you own animated GIF's.

I used to own a 2001 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl (they have a large 3.9L 6 cyl). The engines are not that impressive. You'd think from such a big 6 cyl. they'd get some more hp/tq. Sorta reminds me of the slow Dakota R/Ts (5.9 engine will less than 300HP, I think it has like 265 or 245 hp, that's not putting all 360 ci. to use, that's why I never bought a R/T). One night after leaving the local drag strip, I pulled up right next to a R/T w/ euro taillights, chrome wheels, etc. He didn't want to do anything. I guess my Mustang notchback w/ scared him. :)

Actually the contour would take the r/t let alone the 6 cylinder.

One night, I pulled up beside a V8 Dakota Quad Cab at a light in my old 99 GT automatic. It was on a highway and we both seemed to know we were going at the green light. Light turns green and I pulled out in front, but not like what I thought. At about 60, I only had about a car and a half on the Dodge.
Next light, I arrive first in the right lane and the Dakota in the left. However, the light turned green before the Dakota was fully stopped and I saw the truck lurch ahead. I floored it, but had a hard time making up the difference from a dig. Finally I pulled in front and waved bye-bye.
Anyway, the Dakota followed me home and pulled up right behind me in my driveway! Then the driver got out, went inside and fixed us both dinner.

Wife. Just thought I'd throw a bit of attempted humor into the topic. Most of the time, I drive the truck and while its no Mustang (certainly no Cobra) in terms of power, its a has quite a bit of power and makes for a great family hauler.
I've actually had a couple of encounters with the truck in which it really surprised me how well it accelerated considering its weight. One guy in a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP actually threw me a rev one night just because I pulled beside him in the left lane. Our truck has a limited slip differential so I can launch pretty hard without too much slippage and I actually took him off the light up to about 50 when he started to pull past slightly.
I'm basically a Ford-loyal guy, but the Dakota is such a spunky truck, it makes a good all-around vehicle and keeps my mileage low on the Cobra.

I have a 92 ford ranger and I pulled up next to a dakota with a six and he takes off on the green and I hung with him even after he got the jump.
