I remember watching that movie as a child on HBO. It's a must see for car lovers, even if it is a little cheesy. The Dodge Turbo Interceptor was only a concept rolled into a movie.
Some of the car footage in the movie was a stunt R/C car. @ 4:39 in the above video, that's a radio controlled car.

I loved how the close ups of the drivers helmet were red, but the stunt drivers had white ones.
edit: LOL!! I posted this before i saw the very end, and it made me laugh so hard. Im actually watching 2 and a half men right now
