So today when I got home from work, my brother calls me to the back yard and tells me to look at my 2 1/2 year old Rotty and he looked disoriented to me it seems like he is getting a light haze in his eyes and his pupils are super dilated I did some research online and it doesn't look good I think my dog is loosing his sight!! I throw a piece of ham at him in front of his face and has a hard time finding it!! :(:(

My eyes are literally watery right now..:( it is so hearth breaking seeing my doggy like this and knowing that he was was fine about 3 days ago.. I will take him to the vet tomorrow, its so sad cause I am completely broke too. Have any of you experienced this with your lovely pets? I found numerous diseases such as SARDS, PRA, Glaucoma, Cataracts, if any of you have any input let me know.

Thanks, Roy.

Im sorry man. Go to the vet ASAP tomorrow morning. Tell your vet that you cant afford it now. They can work out a payment plan. ( shhh doesnt normally happen for the public, but if you truely show you need the help, they will do it )

Yes, its true, I worked at a vet for 6 months recently. Just talk to the Hospital Owner.

Be very careful if your dog is losing his sight. When my beagle got to be about 14 years old, he seemed to lose a lot of his sight and hearing. Wouldn't really listen or come when we called and would randomly bump into things in the garage. Apparently he also didn't see or hear my dad's truck when it was backing out of the driveway and he got crushed by a rear wheel. Broke his pelvis in 3 places and one of his back legs. Miraculously everything healed up after only a few weeks of keeping him locked up so he wouldn't run around on it. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again only this time it was a front wheel on the riding lawnmower and his head/neck. He didn't survive it the 2nd time :(

Just take it in stride and help him out as much as you can. Be aware of him all the time so he doesn't get hurt because he doesn't know what is around him.

If it's just his sight he'll get around better than you would think. We have a Pomeranian that's Blind and she does pretty damn good.

Man that sucks to hear.....hope things turn out for the best. See if the vet will work with you on payment options....if the one you go to doesn't then look for another one that does. I'd do anything for my dog even if it meant going "John Q style"

My Mini Schnauzer was blind and deaf for about 3 years before we had her put down (other issues). She adapted just fine and so will your baby. :)

It's ok man, I know it's the last thing you want to hear but just give him the love you were going to do in the 1stplace. Just you'll have to take care of him more specially. Matter of fact this might make you have more of a bond with him

He will still love you just as much & still wag that stub of a tail he's got...lol I used to own a Rott. Best dog i ever had. I would always laugh when i would see her try to wag that stub of a tail
