I have used a metal band (from banding material, 1" wide thin metal band) and push it down the back side of the head rest to release it. Had to move the head rest up and down till I got it, it's tricky. The first time will take a while, then it gets easier after that. I have heard people unzipping the back at the bottom of the seat and reaching up and getting the stop to release that way, but I have never tried it.
I tried several times, and gave up. Very frustrating. It kind of compares to removing the rear bench seat. I finally learned how to do that, before I almost broke the damn seat ...:burn::rolling:
use two hands, grab frimly yell scream and swear and pull up as hard as you can lol, or look at a haynes manual first lol, I don't have mine with me so i cant tell you but im sure someone knows
Just use a hacksaw blade. Be sure to tape up one end so you don't cut your hand.
Pull the headrest up as far as it will go.
Slide the blade down the back of the post for the headrest. Slide it down as far as you can.
Now hile holding the blade, push the headrest all the way down, while holding on to the blade. Then pull the headrest back up.
You should hear/feel a click, then the headrest will pull straight out.
You may need to do it a few times. it doesn't always work the first time.
