How sensitive is a tune?

After some discussions on other boards, I think my MAF is causing my lean condition past 6,200RPM. I'm running a '99-'00 80MM Lightning MAF at the moment and want to upgrade to a '01 90MM Lightning MAF. This is for a couple of reasons:
1. It's already calibrated for 42# injectors.
2. It's bigger then what I have.
3. Relatively cheap.

The concern I have is whether the larger opening would warrant a retune...? I can't afford that right now. :nonono:

The retune comes later with gears, new fuel pumps, and gas tank.

I thought the only difference in the 80mm and 90mm MAF was size but I was told that it wouldn't peg like the current one is.

Thoughts?

the maf is a large part of the tune because its all calibrated in the computer. just going to a bigger size might not cause a problem but if its no longer pegging, you will get fuel control, but if you don't retune it, you won't have any idea what its doing on the topend.

Got the PLX Wideband O2 scanner.

Since I'm running stock internals I better be safe and get a tune. Doing the right thing to improve a bad thing is expensive. I need a cheaper hobby....

i know bro, i've done 2 retunes when i added a pump and the maf extender.

I paid 100 bux a piece, but its worth it in the end.
