How recent is the current (2014) automatic.

How long has the current automatic been in the Mustangs. Seems to be a very tough tranz. from what Iive read and heard. Some guys at the track last week said in stock form they can take a ton of HP. and survive. Whats the difference between this tranz. and lets say a 2006??

The 6R60 first showed up in the '06 explorer I believe. Whether or not it saw updates between now and then i don't know.

2011 was the first year for the 6R80 in a Mustang but the trnsmission has been around longer than that.

Mustangs are hitting the 9s in the quarter mile with a stock untouched 6R80. It is a very strong transmission.

There has been a recent change to the 6r80, supposedly sometime around April. I was about to order a Circle D converter for my 14' (built May 22 2014) only to find out one is not yet available due to some changes in the pump...
