Does anyone use " in private browsing" while at work at home where you share a computer, etc....?

Does it really hide what you've been looking at?

I just got the new Internet Explorer and have no knowledge of this. I'm no computer guy, so please don't flame me too bad for asking.

It doesn't hide everything, any knowledgeable person would still be able to see what you were browsing.

Ditch internet explorer and get mozilla firefox or google chrome.

But, you're probably right about the wife not figuring out what you've been doing.

My whole thing is that I'm planning on leaving my current employer and I'm opening e-mails from people on my Gmail account. I work in the automotive biz, so I don't need a pink slip before I've landed somewhere else.

I never try to hide porn.

1. It makes me appear "normal"

2. "They" never look farther and find my plans for World Domination.

This prevents local storage from being saved, any packet sniffing device (I happen to work for a company that does this for schools) can see where you are visiting unless it's https traffic. That's until we finish our new feature and then even that traffic isn't safe. I wouldn't risk it unless you know they don't have a device on the network.

Thanks, this helps. I think they may have something like this, but I doubt they have time to use it right now seeing as how our Sales Manager left a few months ago.

I'm sort of to the point that I don't really care if they find it, so I guess it doesn't matter.

It will prevent any tracks being left on the computer that you are sitting at, but if there is any sort of sniffing/logging device on the network that is monitoring internet traffic, it will still pick it up. Even then, though, it will only report IP's, it's not like someone will be able to read your emails or anything - they'll only be able to see that you were on gmail.com.

I'm willing to bet that you could determine what sites were browsed using cookies or through other methods. The private browsing modes aren't perfect.
