I would cap the system so you won't get mositure into the system, incase you ever wanted to put it back on. To do it according to EPA specs you need to recover the refrigerant into a certified container, and dispose of it accordily.
Once you remove the belt you should be done. It's a sealed system and should never get mositure in it unless you have a leak. This should be covered by the warrenty unless u took a hammer to the tubing. This is one point am not sure about but I was told that it has a few rubber( or some another material) seals that use oil inside of the system to lubricate them. So once the belt comes off that won't happen and seals will go bad.
