How hard is it to?

Just wondering how hard is it to put in a shift light? I was thinking about putting in the raptor with the launch feature in my car. Is it easier to put it in the vent or infront of the steering wheel just on the outside of the plastic covering the gauge cluster?

some put them in the A/C vent so you cant see them until they are going off of course

This I know. I was wondering how hard it is to do and if its easier to put outside to the gauges?
