I'd be cleaning mine every month and a half at that rate!:uh oh: Since I just drive to and from work I'll be changing mine once a year.

Apply cleaning solution, rinse, dry and oil. Put 50 miles or so on the filter and then clean the MAF wire. Done!

F all that, just trash the old filter or sell it at a swap meet and order a brand new one!!!!

You're cleaning the MAF wire after 50 miles or so to get rid of any oil that may have deposited on the MAF wire from a re-oiled air filter, correct? Good idea.

I've used rubbing alcohol in the past. Just poured it on the wire with the MAF removed from the car. Repeat a few times and let it air dry.

what is the proper way to clean your fliter?? i am going to the track this weekend and want the filter to be very clean to suck in the air.

I use a mild mixture of simple green and hot water. Soak the filter in a bucket with the mix then I use the water hose to wash from the inside out letting the water run normally instead of a strong stream.
