How do you make those AVATARS or SIGS that move (I think GIF files)?

I want to create a sig or avatar of my own pictures. Like my cobra and ducati bike. That rotate, or move like a movie that I can make of myself. Anybody know how to do it or know where I can learn how to do it? Any good websites that are not too difficult? Thanks. I will try to get some examples in the mean time.

Adobe ImageReady is a basic one that I use. I'm sure there are others that can do it.
