how do you loosen a vortech belt tensioner

you put a 1/2" drive into the slot (the square insert closest to the belt) on the end of the tensioner and push/pull down

It should only have a bolt to hold the tensioner to the block. The adjustable part should just take a 1/2" drive.

Yeah, you should have a square hole on the pulley end of the tensioner. You stick the 1/2" drive into that hole. Have the ratchet switched to "righty tighty" and just push or pull it like you were tightening a bolt and the tensioner should rotate out enough to release the tension on the belt.
