Has anyone had any problems with their half shafts? I'm curious on how they're holding up to the stress of racing. I'd prefer if they didn't do this.

Joe Lynch has lots of info on his site about his trials and experiences with the IRS. I know the 2003 Cobra's is different, but will it hold up?

hold up?

NO they wont hold up. This is what I have been talking about. No one is going to be able to run over 500hp and race at the drag strip without braking these things daily. Any fast Cobras all change to the 8.8 solid axle for durabilty. IRS is a good street setup but they are not drag cars. I would wish my Cobra came with a solid axle.

Here is my post on this matter

For those who do not know, Joe's pages on half shaft failures can be found here.

He's got a good procedure for examining the half shafts.

There's a lot of good information on Joe Lynch's web site. Of particular interest is the field balancing of the driveshaft to do away with the vide that the 99's - 01's had. I'm sure it will benefit guys with an"03 vide. I think a separate post pointing to that info is in order...
