I know this is a strange question to ask on a mustang forum but I just need to tap in to the wealth of general automotive knowledge here.
I bought my 16 yr old daughter a Honda CRV. Great little SUV for a new driver. I was going over it with a fine tooth comb today and noticed what looks like a dampner that has come loose on front drivers side CV joint. It now looks like a doughnut and is very firm rubber the consistency of a hockey puck. It slides freely up and down the shaft. The cv joint itself is otherwise great shape.
Think it's ok to just cut it off (dampner) or replace the whole cv joint.
Thanks!
Pic of said cv joint......
