hids look and work like sh1t unless the HID bulb is used with a reflector designed to control that amount of light output. If you get a crappy kit that puts HID bulbs in a stock housing then the reflector will not control and focus the light properly. THe light will bleed all over the place and blind oncoming motorists. NY has already passed legislation making it illegal to have HID on any car that wasnt equipped with it from the factory. .. Thanks to the dumbasses that dont know how a proper setup should look and function.
The best way is to retrofit a HID projector from a BMW or Mercedes.
The cheapest way that works well is to get a projector based lamp housing and put a HID kit in that. Most projectors will control the increased output of HID nicely. A normal reflector housing will not.
do a search. There are some threads on here with lengthy discussions and places to get them.
I got a conversion kit for my headlights at cqlight or something like that. Super fast shipping and looks/works great.
There are more than a few cars that come with HID's from the factor in a normal style housing. You dont HAVE to have them in a projector for them to work well. Granted it is the superior way to do it but if you dont want to shell out $900 for a conversion or dont want to throw some ricer looking headlights on the conversion will work fine. Just make sure your lights are aimed correctly.
My headlights are actually more precise with the light HID vs. Sylverstars. Or alteast that is my opinion anyway. Going with the fog conversion soon!
what is the fog light model to order from cq? i do not see it listed but for that price i can get matchin set of driving and fogs for others price for just one set!
I have had good luck with McCulloch kits. Bought 3 and 1 is over 2 years old and the other 2 have been working perfectly. I bought it from a guy at ebay his screen name is supervtec or something .... great guy to deal with. He lists his phone # at all listings. I recommend 6000K and as long as you have the stock headlights aimed properly the beam pattern is not THAT bad.
I am buying McCulloch hid kit soon for mine ... I have bought 3 and one of the kits has been working for over 2 years without any problems. I highly recommend McCulloch kits. Separater igniter/ballast.
