2.45 is exceptionally fast. I ran that course in 2.57 in my car, on slicks, with aero. Granted, it was my first time there, but 12 seconds is eternity at the track. The tires play a huge role, 1.2 lateral g's is massive grip, so it's nearly running on slicks, but props to them (Chevy and the driver for C&D)

Must go back to VIR!

For reference, here is my lap at VIR Grand last year. I could benefit from more time on the course (3 sessions...) and I was redline limited on the front straight. Enough excuses, I was thrilled with my lap and it's incredible how much the Camaro smoked it

Ok just read up in it... $70k+ and 650 hp... I don't feel so bad now! Haha

Have to go back in 2018 to hit that grand course again. It's too bad they only run it once or twice a year or so

The 1LE is no joke. Chevy knocked it out of the park IMO. The regular ZL1 did a very respectable 2:50, just a hair faster than the GT350R did last year.

Lightning lap is a joke. You can't even compare laps from year to year based on their repaving. Plus the inconsistent and different amateur drivers.

You have us believe that at VIR the 2le is faster than the GT3RS by 1.3 seconds yet the GT3RS is a 1 faster on a significantly shorter LS track.

I really didn't expect the AMG GTR to be as fast as it was. I know it's a very expensive car but with only 577 hp and 3700lbs, I wouldn't have expected it to out muscle the 1LE on a track that requires so much power.

VIR is a power course for sure. I watched my lap next to the Camarillo lap last night, and through turns we were close then it pulled away immensely on straights

Put it on a course like limerock or Palmer where power matters less and I agree, it would be less of a beating.

And at the end of all this, the driver is 90% out there in a track environment. I've been beaten up by "lesser" cars and I've run circles around super cars
