Ok, so I finally found the source of my leak, which ended up being the front crank seal. When I got the timing cover off to replace the seal, I noticed the surface of the timing cover ground down around the crank seal and also the little hump of the cover where the crank position sensor is. That made me look at the back side of the balancer/damper and I could see where it was rubbing the timing cover and crank seal. The engine was built about 5k ago and I never had this problem prior to that. Was something reassembled incorrectly? What can I do to fix the problem? I don't want to just reassemble with a new seal just to have it go bad from the balance/damper.

is your crank pulley still the stock style with that piece of bonded rubber? It could be coming apart causing it to rub
