Help me pick a truck

So I'm in the market for a new truck. Should be between 3-8 Grand and have the following

Solid front Axle
Extra Cab
V8- Gas

So I'm looking at Ford 250 F-Series and Dodge Ram's. Anyone have any bad things to say about either? I can score either for about 8 grand used.

Thats about all your options for a full-sized solid axle truck. You can always SAS a truck though.
