I bought a T56 from a member and that is the speedo sensor that it had. SO now I need one but by looking at it the speedo sensor on the T56 in a 03-04 Cobra is on the driver's side, this one's on the passenger side.

I need a part # or help identifying what year make and model to tell the parts guy or to put in online when u fill out the year make model.

Help please? lol

OK for those that find this thread and are looking for the same thing the part # for thart item is :

e9tz9e731a

It does NOT come with the gear, thats seperate, and if you have an 03/04 Cobra with the vehicle speed sensor(on the passenger side) you will need that part, any gear, and a device to correct the PPM(Pulses Per Mile) sent to the input to the pcm for the vehicle speed.

All this onformation as per what D&D told me. I went ahead and ordered the sensor with the gear for like $60 shipped and the magic box to correct the speedometer for $124 so hopefully he's right!

I will update my results!

I check Abbott Industries and they list those bozes for $170 on their website so apparently D&D has the hookup on the ERA-Deluxe (one I ordered)

just a FYI for those who might have went ahead and ordered straght from Abbott

03-04 Cobra's speed is electronically calculated. There is not a gear driven sensor that sends signal to the ecu. That is why we are able to change our speed calibration for new rear end ratios by simply flashing the ecu.

There is a sensor on the tranny at the rear near the output shaft so that the ecu knows how fast it's spinning. That sensor is just a magnetic pickup like a crank position sensor. There is no gear.

The sensor you show is for 98 and earlier mustangs. It was all changed with the new edges.

Yeah but someone stole the T56 out of this Cobra so now it has one that was in a 96 Cobra, and the sensor boss is on the opposite side, and if you feel inside there are indeed teeth it feels like and that sensor did in fact come out of the T56 I bought. So it has gears.

So you're telling me I can just put an original 03/04 Cobra sensor in and go?

IDK I called D&D and thats not what they told me,

sold me the sensor shown above new($60+ with gear) and a box to convert the Pulses Per Mile to match for $125

Hopefully I didnt just get talked into buying another $200 worth of stuff i dont need but I'd like to think the T56 swap "Specialists" would know what they are talking about.

Then again the bottom line dont grow as much if you point every customer right every time :dw:

Thanks

Honestly I don't see why you can't just use a std 03/04 speed sensor since you actually have a Terminator instead of all the stuff they told you to buy.

Can you post a pic of the trans itself? What are the numbers on the trans? There are different specs of T56.

glad you worked it out

Well its not set in stone, but I talked to the guy and hes gonna refund everything.

Ont he other hand, I just found out that the T56 I purchased is 1.25" longer (think shorter driveshaft)than the old T56 and it also requires a 31 tooth slip yoke XD dang it cant even just swap slip yokes dang

But hey, Imma still use that sucker... gonna grind off the welds, cut out the weld in the gap of the cap, and pop the cap off.

Use a pipe cutter to chop off 1.25"

then use a file to clean it a little and pop the cap back on, bolt up the driveshaft, check runout, and tack it while its on the car.

Hopefully. lol

Lots to go wrong but hey screw it first time for everything! :bash:

Actually Im thinking its very unlikely to be any difference in balance if the welder makes a countinuous perfect bead all the way around. Heard its unlikely but once in a while they do need balancing but still cheaper than soeone else doing it for you!

I took a pic of the output shaft and marked/counted every tooth and it is in fact a 31 spline :D

Good for my customer but areal PITA for me lol

Sorry for a thread revival but I'm looking for the same thing, I was wondering, my t56 has the same gear driven sensor and I am having trouble getting my speed sensor to work with my car. My mph on the cluster shows about 20 mph at 55 to 60 mph. And one have any ideas?

That is for all the help.... Figured it out. Just needed to adjust the dip switch settings on my dallas mustang speed cal. The trans I have was intended to be used in a 96 to 98 car
